B2192 Lewes Road, Cross in Hand
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be installing new signs and posts on the B2192 Lewes Road, Cross in Hand, as part of ongoing safety improvements.
When do they start?
Works will be carried out from Monday 20 April and Tuesday 21 April 2026 between 8am and 4pm. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be working between between Warren Lane and Dads Hill. The road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place for the duration of the works.
Update Wednesday 1 April – A267 Argos Hill
We’re pleased to confirm that we expect to reopen the A267 at Argos Hill from 12pm on Thursday 2 April.
To keep everyone safe while we continue our work, temporary two‑way traffic lights will remain in place for approximately three weeks. These lights are needed while we complete the decommissioning of the old metal gas pipework. We know this is a busy road, so we’ll have an operative in place from 7am to 7pm to control the lights to help manage the traffic flow.
From 6:30pm on Thursday 2 April, the B2101 Bicycle Arms Road will be closed at its junction with the A267 for around three weeks. This closure will allow our engineers to carry out the final installation and connections of the new plastic gas main. Signed diversion routes will be in place for affected motorists
Local Rotherfield bus routes will be affected during this phase of work. Passengers are advised to check directly with their bus operator for the latest information on route changes and temporary bus stop locations.
We’d like to thank the local community for their ongoing patience and understanding while we complete these essential works.
