Theobalds Green TN21 8BT

Theobalds Green Burial Ground, including its Woodland Burial Ground, is managed by the Parish Council and provides a tranquil, respectful traditional burial ground with ashes plots, a woodland burial for earthen and ashes interments and a further woodland area for the scattering of ashes. Set in a the beautiful East Sussex countryside on the outskirts of Heathfield, the burial grounds offer a quiet and serene atmosphere for those seeking a tranquil final resting place.

The Burial Ground at Theobalds Green is open to parishioners and non parishioners, for which there is a two-tier fee structure in place. The differential in the fees ensures that local residents, who contribute to ongoing upkeep through their Poll Tax, are not subsidising burial provision for those living outside the parish. For more information please contact our Burial Officer on 01435 865700 or email fchalk@hwpc.org.uk.  The rules and regulations and fees appear below.

St Bartholomew’s Burial Ground

The Parish Council is responsible for the Burial Ground at St Bartholomew’s, Cross in Hand. The burial ground is divided into ashes and burial plots and is only available for second interments in existing plots. Such interments are open to parishioners and non parishioners, for which there is a two-tier fee structure in place. The differential in the fees ensures that local residents, who contribute to the ongoing upkeep through their Poll Tax, are not subsidising burial provision for those living outside of the parish.

In order to support the Parish Council’s commitment to environmental responsibility and the sensitive management of its burial grounds, families and Funeral Directors are requested to ensure that all floral tributes, wreaths and items placed on graves are biodegradable, recyclable or made from natural materials wherever possible. Plastic wrapping, synthetic ribbon, non-biodegradable floral foam (oasis), silk or artificial flowers, plastic ornaments and other non-recyclable items are discouraged and may be removed. The Council encourages the use of natural, hand-made wreaths and locally sourced stone memorials where available, in order to reduce environmental impact and avoid unnecessary landfill.

For more information on our burial grounds, please contact our Burial Officer on 01435 865700 or email fchalk@hwpc.org.uk.  The rules and regulations and fees appear below.
